What Causes Sunburn & Who Can Be Affected?

Sunburn is caused by extremer exposure to the ultraviolet sunays. The human eyes cannot tolerate the ultraviolet light which is divided into A, B and C types. When your skin is exposed to the sun, the extra amount of melanin in your skin protects it from getting damaged with sunrays. If your body is unable to produce the sufficient amount of melanin, your skin will be more prone to get damaged. Ultraviolet Rays can cause pain, burn, redness and swelling. Causes of sunburn might also include phototherapy lamps and tanning beds which also produce UV rays.

Who Can Be Sunburned?

Anyone can be affected with UV light which can lead to the development of sunburn, but if you are the one whose body does not produce enough melanin, you are more prone to get UV light effects. If you have white skin or have blonde hair, you are at a greater risk. If you are a climber or athlete who has high altitude, you are more prone to be a victim of this skin disease. Extreme exposure to UV rays also increases the risk of skin cancer. Therefore, you must take these symptoms seriously to avoid fatal results in future.
